According to the original intention of designing, the road conditions that stop and go in the city are not only fuel-efficient, but also environmentally friendly. But in fact, many owners have closed this function or even permanently switched off after the first time they got on the train. Why? Automatic start and stop in the end should not be off?

1. What is the automatic start and stop technology?

Automatic start and stop, also called Auto-stop, I-stop, simply means a system that automatically starts the engine for you to turn off. In the design concept of this system, you stop it and it will automatically turn off the engine for you. Release the brakes, it will restart the engine, so its advantages are mainly two points:

Fuel economy: At least one minute when the red light is on, the engine no longer has to idle.

Environmental protection: Supporting environmental protection is the responsibility of the driver.

2. But here, the concept of "economizing fuel is equal to saving money" is not the case!

The reason is as follows:

1) Frequent start and stop may cause internal wear of the engine

Frequent start and stop of the engine will certainly affect the life of the components in the engine, and the reliability of the entire vehicle will be reduced. Although manufacturers all claim to use enhanced starters and batteries, in fact, vehicles equipped with automatic start-stop systems have much higher failure rates than starters and batteries.

2) High maintenance costs for enhanced battery and starter

The maintenance cost of the enhanced starter and battery is much higher than that of the ordinary type. Once the vehicle's warranty is over, the maintenance and replacement of these high-risk components will be a large expenditure.

3) High oil requirements and increased use costs

The start-stop system repeatedly starts the engine. Although the time interval between shutdown and start-up is short, the temperature of the oil will not be substantially reduced and will remain in the oil passage. The main factor affecting the engine wear becomes the lubrication effect of the oil. . Therefore, an engine equipped with an automatic start-stop technology has a higher quality requirement for oil, which is another significant expense.

4) The actual use of economical poor

Although the start-stop system can reduce fuel consumption, from an economic point of view, the assembly and start-up of vehicles does not reduce the cost of car owners. Someone took an account: The price difference between models with start-stop and without start-stop is about 7,000 yuan. A total of about 30 traffic lights will be encountered on the way to and from work every day. Every traffic light will stop for 40 seconds. 1.6L car The annual fuel cost is about 500 yuan.
